DIRECT SERVICE VOLUNTEERS:

 

  1.      Brief History of Texas Battered Women's

           Movement;

  2.        The Need & Benefit of Shelter Services;

  3.        The Dynamics of Family Violence

           and Sexual Assault;

  4.        Brief Summary of current Texas Laws that

           address family violence and  sexual  

           assault issues;

  5.        Crisis Intervention;

  6.        Hotline Skills, if applicable;

  7.        Peer Counseling Techniques;

  8.      Risk Assessment & Safety Planning;

  9.        The Center’s Mission & Philosophy;

10.      Confidentiality;

11.      Legal options for victims of family

           violence and sexual assault;

12.      Sensitivity to Cultural Diversity;

13.      Community Resources;

14.      The need for community systems to be

           responsive to the needs of victims of    

           family violence and sexual assault;

15.      Training on applicable civil rights laws 

           and regulations;

16.      The Center’s Policies & Procedures; and

17.     Service Documentation.   

 

NON-DIRECT SERVICE VOLUNTEERS:

 

1.      PCC’s Mission & Operating Philosophy;

2.      Basic Information About PCC’s Policies

       Ø      Confidentiality Policy; and

3.      Orientation to basic duties of the

        volunteer’s job.
